Domestic: Had a domestic assault right out the bat. A gal had called and said that she had been assaulted...parties seperated when the call came in. My partner contacted the female half. She had been knee'd in the abdomen and she tried to leave he grabbed her and prevented her from leaving. He put his hand on her mouth and neck, then took off. I waited with the sarge at the guys apartment a ways away. He wouldn't come to the door. We thought he was hiding in there so we waited and were about to get the key from an apartment manager when we got ahold of him on the phone. He wasnt there but ended up walking into the hallway where we were at....we hooked him up immediately. There was some debate on what to charge him with...usually that is just a simple assault but since he prevented her from leaving we were able to charge him with unlawful imprisonment. Good work on my partners half for looking up the crime definitions and elements cause that one is a felony vs a simple misdemeanor.
Burglary report: Went to the house...Mom and son there. Son noticed money missing from his dresser door and mom realized that her ring was gone along with some coins. No forced entry ...an inside job? They suspected the upstairs neighbor who had a key to their house. Upstairs neighbor son recently started living with them...he had a history (according to them) of heavy drug use and tranciency. Had them complete statements, talked to the kid upstairs...denied any involvement...had him fill out a statement etc. Slew of paperwork along with it all.
Pharmacy forgery: Gal comes into a local pharmacy. Gives clerk a prescription for 120 oxicontin which is suspicious in and of itself. Oxycontin goes for bout 100 bucks a pop when dealers cell it. Gal claims to be filling her mom's prescription. Clerk asks her to sign the narcotics log. Girl hesitates when signing it. Clerk suspicious asks for manager. Manager asks girl for ID. Girl says she doesnt have any and demands refund of co-pay back. Manager questions her. Girl bolts out front to gettaway car. Clerk gets the out-of-state lic plate number......could have made it a simple report but decided to do some digging into to prevent report getting kicked back. Ran plate returns to rental car place. Called rental car place...after hours no luck. Called insurance company as presented on card by girl. Verifies as real customer with account. Call doctor listed on prescription.....doctor did not write script and say they dont use those RX pads anymore. Call phone number listed under the patient....suspect that its the actual girls number and she listed it on accident on the narcotics log. Ringtone was not of old lady but some rap song...young girl answers (pretty sure it was the suspect although I dont know why you would list your real phone number unless she had put it down so pharmacy could call her after she places fraudulent pill orders..........young girl answers. Is so and so there I say (giving the name of her fake mom...the patients name) Who is calling she says? The police.......click. Lots of paperwork associated with this.
Stolen car: Stolen car dumped right by the police station. Easy. Run car...verify its stolen, verify both plates are on it (car thieves often switch plates or remove them), verify that its driveable and inventory car such as cd players, tapes, if ignition is damaged etc etc. Dispatch calls owner, owner comes to pick up car......verify that its been cleared from system so that owner doesnt drive down the road and its still listed as stolen and unknowning cop pulls her over and out of the car at gunpoint. Its cleared she takes off and is very thankful. Crap forgot to have her sign for the car...call her back, she returns and signs the forms and quickly tells me that she thinks she might have just parked the car there originally and forgot about it....yeah she was that goofy.
Death Investigation: Expected death. very old gal passed away. Requires a whole bunch of information that is hard to ask of a next-of-kin while they are dealing with their loss.....the medical examiner needs such things like a list of medications, primary doctor information, funeral home choice etc etc. Required to get an NJA number which stands for No Jurisdiction Assigned...no idea why its called that or why that number is so important but its the one thing I have to have before the funeral home can pick up the body.......body inspection done by me...nothing suspicious or out of the ordinary...difficult to do a proper job with 30 family members there. Was minimally invasive wish I would have done some more checking of some things but nothing was obvious and given the fact that she had a DNR (do not revive) form I didn't pry too much. This was at 1720 hours.....lots of paperwork associated with that.
Inbetween these had several non-paper calls such as alarms, noise complaints etc. Made a few traffic stops and wrote a couple speeding tickets....one lady pulled over into a car dealership which was her destination and asked if she could go inside while being pulled over to tell them she would be late......I said no. Another lady barely spoke english...caught her doing 20 over the posted speed limit and she refused to believe she was driving that fast...I showed her my LIDAR lazer speed gun and the flashingt 50mph. She kind of shut up after that. She did not expect a ticket and exclaimed "you've seen my driving record right...no tickets?" I said yes but you were speeding and that doesnt negate the fact that you should use your brake when driving that fast.
Tired....rinse repeat tomorrow.
